Suitability for Program

We receive many inquiries from international students with bachelor degrees in, for example, biotechnology or pharmacy, asking if their background is suitable for this program and if they are eligible to apply. Unfortunately, because we are not able to assess all the bachelor programs throughout the entire world, we cannot always answer this question accurately. Thus, students sometimes apply to the program who, it turns out, are not at all qualified. The following information is designed to help you determine if your background will enable you not only to apply, but also to be accepted to the master’s program in molecular medicine.

Generally speaking, if you have studied biology, biotechnology, pharmacy, or bioinformatics in a bachelor program, then you are eligible to apply to the master’s program in molecular medicine. However, we also look for students who have not only learned, but also used modern research techniques as part of a research project. Thus, if your bachelor program did not offer the opportunity to perform such research, or if you were not able to obtain this experience outside of your bachelor program (for example, in an internship or technical position held after graduating) then your chances of actually being accepted to our program are not good.

If you lack the necessary skills but nevertheless are strongly interested in attending the master’s program in molecular medicine, then we encourage you to first obtain a master’s degree in your home country. Such a degree will probably provide you with the necessary experience to be accepted to this program. Alternatively, you may wish to work or intern in a research laboratory. In either case, the experience you gain should increase your chances of being accepted to our program considerably. It will certainly demonstrate to our admissions committee your commitment to scientific research.

If you are still not sure if your background is sufficient to be accepted to this program, please contact the project coordinator.
